BIOGRAPHY
Laura Fouassier is a full-time researcher at INSERM, the first research institute in France, where she leads a group of research on cholangiocarcinoma at the CRSA (Centre de recherche St-Antoine) in Paris, France (https://www.laurafouassier.com/). She received her Ph.D. in pathophysiology from “Sorbonne Université “(Paris, France) in 1998 on biliary fibrosis. From 1999-2001, she gained expertise in biliary physiology through a first post-doc in Denver, USA, with Prof. G Fitz and Dr. B Doctor, and then a second one in France before to be recruited at INSERM for a permanent position in 2004.

She decided to pursue a career in fundamental and translational cancer research and set up a group specializing in the study of cholangiocarcinoma (EGFR signaling, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, extracellular vesicles, cancer-associated fibroblasts, therapeutic resistance). Currently her work fucuses on innovative locoregional therapies by developing interdisciplinary research with physicists and clinicians in order to propose new efficient therapeutic treatments against cholangiocarcinoma.

Her contributions to the field of biliary physiology and cholangiocarcinoma have already been recognized through several awards and honors, and publications. She has directed master students, Ph.D. students and postdocs. Her last postdoc Dr. Javier Vaquero is now an independent researcher who heads a research team in Salamanca, Spain.
